15 Weird Animal Crossbreeds That Actually Exist

Image
As Earth has encountered many different changes - a warming planet, environmental erosion, and loss of species - animals are trying to adapt. And one way they do that is through crossbreeding. How does crossbreeding work? It's the strengthening of the species genes of one animal by breeding with a stronger mate of another animal. Sometimes these strange animal mating partners are a result of nature, and other times it's a man-made match.  Visit:   https://www.ranker.com/list/weird-animal-crossbreeds/nida-sea

The Top 10 Wildlife Conservation Organizations

Not everyone who is concerned about endangered species, and would like to help protect threatened wildlife, has the opportunity to get out in the field, get their boots muddy, and do something about it. But even if you're unwilling or unable to participate in hands-on conservation work, you can still contribute money to a conservation organization. On the following slides, you'll find descriptions of, and contact information for, the world's most reputable wildlife conservation groups—one requirement for inclusion being that these organizations spend at least 80 percent of money they raise on actual field work, rather than administration and fundraising.  Read more:   https://www.thoughtco.com/top-wildlife-conservation-organizations-4088567

White Tiger: The Color of Controversy

White Tigers are NOT Genetically Defective There is no evidence of a genetic defect inherent in the white color variant of the Royal White Bengal Tiger, notwithstanding the erroneous claims to the contrary by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). White tigers have a normally occurring, simple recessive genetic color variant known as Leucism, much the same as the Leucistic (white) deer common to the Carolinas. Leucism and albinism are not the same. White tigers are not albinos and do not carry the genetic weaknesses associated with albinism.  Read more:   https://docantle.wordpress.com/category/big-cat-genetics/

How to Estimate a Forest Tree's Age.

Hello readers, myself Doc Bhagavan Antle, and I am here to share with you'll an amazing blog on how to estimate a tree's age. Animal Ambassadors: 21st Century Conservation

At TIGERS and the Rare Species Fund, we endorse an interactive approach to animal ambassadorship. Our highly structured program of intensive socialization, careful breeding and cutting edge enrichment ensures that well adjusted and happy animals become model citizens who are flourishing in a human environment. These captive-born animals will never be introduced into the wild. Understanding their species-specific needs and the employment of carefully designed, interactive husbandry techniques allows them to thrive in captivity. Scientific research has shown a myriad of benefits captive wildlife can experience through regular human interaction. Animals who have not had the opportunity to become comfortable and trusting in human interactions can become stressed, anxious, and possibly problematic in the execution of the simplest captive care and veterinary tasks. We are invested in training well socialized ambassadors, comfortable in their lives, to represent species that we are actively

How the Mirror Test Tries to Measure Animal Cognition

Hello Readers, myself Doc Antle and I am here to share with you'll an interesting blog on the “Mirror Test,” officially called the “Mirror Self-Recognition” test or MSR test, was invented by Dr. Gordon Gallup Jr. in 1970. Gallup, a biopsychologist, created the MSR test to assess the self-awareness of animals — more specifically, whether animals are visually able to recognize themselves when in front of a mirror. Gallup believed that self-recognition could be considered synonymous with self-awareness.If animals recognized themselves in the mirror, Gallup hypothesized, they could be considered capable of introspection. 10 Facts About Primates

Hello readers, myself Doc Antle have an amazing facts to share about Primates. Most people have a special interest in the order of mammals known as primates, for the simple reason that most people (well, all people, actually) are primates themselves. The Word Primate Means "First Rank" Just how egocentric are human beings? Well, it's telling that "primate," the name employed for this order of mammals, is Latin for "first rank," a not-so-subtle reminder that Homo sapiens considers itself the pinnacle of evolution. Scientifically speaking, though, there's no reason to believe that monkeys, apes, tarsiers and lemurs—--all of the animals in the primate order—are more advanced from an evolutionary perspective than birds, reptiles or even fish; they just happened to branch off in a different direction millions of years ago. 10 amazing facts about Tigers

1. Unique pattern  Tigers are the only big cats to have stripes and individuals can be identified by their pattern. The stripes also help the mammals to blend in with their surroundings and remain undetected for longer by prey.  2. Spot the spots  Tigers have white spots surrounded by black fur on the back of their ears. It has been suggested that they act as false eyes to warn of their presence or discourage other species from attacking them from behind. Other theories suggest that it helps tiger cubs follow their mother through tall grass.  Read more:   http://www.discoverwildlife.com/animals/mammals/facts-about-tigers

Advantages and Disadvantages of Cross Breeding Dogs.

The practice of cross breeding tends to cause some controversy in the dog world. On one side, breeders of purebreds tend to consider these dogs nothing more than mutts. On the other side, proponents of crossbred dogs maintain they are adding vigor to the genetics of breeds they believe have been bred too closely for generations. Which side is right? That can be difficult to determine. However, there are advantages and disadvantages to the practice of cross breeding, and it's good for potential dog owners and breeders to be aware of them. Evolution of Forests and Trees

The vascular plant emerged around 400 million years ago and started Earth's forest-building process during the Silurian geologic period. United to Save Grasslands Habitat

More than 200 people gathered in Fort Worth, Texas to talk about saving one of the most endangered wildlife habitats in America—our native prairies, also known as grasslands. As agricultural expansion and urban development continue to lead to the conversion of grasslands throughout the Great Plains and Midwest, it is increasingly important to raise public awareness of this underrepresented, yet critical, biome that is decreasing at an alarming rate.
